Microsoft C/C++ 7.0 compatibility

bob
I need to edit an old dos program that was written with Microsoft C/C++
7.0 (circa 1991?). I have the orig. MS floppies, but no MS 3.1 OS
nearby. Can I install this package on a machine with Windows 2000? I
have no other developer package by MS. Thanks.

<off-topic>In that case it would be version 7.0 - 6 = 1.0.</off-topic>

That's off-topic; please ask in a Windows programming group (the FAQ
lists some relevant groups).

It seems that Microsoft not only does not need the classic Visual Basic developer army (the largest army of developers the world has ever seen), but now they don't need ANY Windows developer at a small or mid-sized business. http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.msdn.general/browse_thread/thread/9d7e8f9a00c1c7da/459ca99eb0e7c328?q=%22Proposed+MSDN+subscription+changes%22&rnum=1#459ca99eb0e7c328 Damn! Microsoft Hatred, FAQ Xah Lee, 20020518 Question: U.S. Judges are not morons, and quite a few others are not morons. They find MS guilty, so it must be true. Answer: so did the German population thought Jews are morons by heritage, to the point that Jews should be exterminated from earth. Apparently, the entire German population cannot be morons, they must be

Used VB.NET (on my client PC) to convert VB6 executable to .NET executable. Placed the .exe file on a network drive on my server. From client, ran .NET Wizards "Trust an Assembly" to make the .exe (on the network drive, on the server) "Full Trust." From the client, double-click on the ..exe (on the network drive, on the server) and it runs fine. So far, so good, but... On the server, where I've installed not VB.NET but .NET

Having only recently migrated across from VB6 to VB.NET I'm still unsure whether or not I should be making (heavy) use of the Microsoft.VisualBasic namespace in new applications. I've read a lot of posts in the (VB).Net newsgroups and seen just about all of the For and Against arguments i.e. not using it = not coding in VB.NET, not using it = good OO. I'm also aware of the difference between this namespace and the compatibility namespace....

Which vb.net object is the best match for the vb6 collection class? Specifically, I would like to be able to access the Item property with an index or a key string. I wrote my own class that inherits from the collectionbase and uses an arraylist to hold values, but i'm missing the Item(string) property. I suppose I could iterate thru the collection and look for a string match, but I thought there might be an easier way. Thanks,

Google and Second Life have proven there are market$ and economie$ in the virtual worlds they and others have created. Applications in these virtual worlds require the use of vector graphics applications which are used to design, draw, and draft the user interfaces *within* the virtual world. Note the distinction, *within* meaning not the Window where the host application runs but that which is contained within the window. This is where...

I am under the impression they are obsolete methods included for backward compatibility. For instance is using filedatetime("c:\myfile.txt") still the accepted way of getting the date c:\myfile.txt was last modified? I see filedatetime is in the Microsoft.VisualBasic namespace. Is there some dim file as new something dim lastchanged as date = file.datetime method we are supposed to use now?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
