Hi list,
I have a small example which gives me "pure virtual function called".
I'm calling a virtual function in the destructor of the base class, where
the pointer used is effectively pointing to a derived class, but the whole
thing is in the process of being destroyed.
Interesting for me is also, that I get the same error if I call b->isA() in
the constructor of Base.

Is it correct to say that Whenever a class has a virtual member function,
define its destructor as "virtual"?
Can a destructor as "pure virtual"? When is it needed to do so?
For an interface, Interf:
class Interf
{
public:

When a member function is declared as virtual in the base class, the
derived class versions of it are always treated as virtual.
I am just wondering, why the same concept was not used for the
destructors.
What I am expecting is, if the destructor is declared as virtual in
base, the destructors of all its derived classes also should be
virtual always.
What exactly is the reason for not having it so?

Hi,
I wonder the necessity of constructor and destructor in a Abstract
Class? Is it really needed?

Hello Group,
I have a class A, which has three other members and each member is of a
different class
type.
If I don't create a destructor then the compiler will give me one and
whenever class A is
destroyed (whether on stack or on heap) the destructor of each
different object will be called.

I'm trying to create a pure virtual class describing an interface.
Normally, when I do this I make the destructor pure virtual so that,
even if there are no members in the class, it cannot be instantiated.
The difference now is that I'm making a generic interface with
template arguments. Template classes should be defined in the header
file, but it is not allowed for a destructor's definition to be in the
class definition if the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
