Hello-
I am trying to write a snippet which will open a text file with an
integer on each line. I would like to read the last integer in the
file. I am currently using:
file = fopen("f.txt", "r+");
fseek(file, -2, SEEK_END);
fscanf(file, "%d", &c);
this works fine if the integer is only a single character. When I get
into larger numbers though (e.g. 502) it only reads in the 2. Is there

Hi there,
I want to timeout Read method of System.Stream class after 30 secs. of
no activity given a certain opened connection. That is, because some
incoming connections to my application just don't give any signal and
my Read method keeps waiting from the socket for some data to be read
eternally.
I have seen that in framework 2.0 System.Stream.Read has a new property
that will probably match with what I need called 'ReadTimeout'....

At the moment, I'm creating a buffer of a fixed size, and reading the
stream of text into it. It works, but I have to create a buffer of a
pre-defined length: (ConstBufferByteSize=10000000). How can I read a
stream into a buffer or string without knowing the number of chars the
stream will contain?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
