I'm looking for information on working with large data files using FSO, XML.
I have a program which creates a large CSV file, over 7mb. It's a rate
table of freight shipping costs.
There are certain fields I do not need, some are blank. A typical line
would be:
Raw data:
" ", "30142", "GA", "01001"," ", "MA","

I am working on a project that will have about 500,000 records in an XML
document. This document will need to be queried with XPath, and records
will need to be updated. I was thinking about splitting up the XML into
several XML documents (perhaps 50,000 per document) to be more efficient but
this will make things a lot more complex because the searching needs to go
accross all 500,000 records. Can anyone point me to some best practices...

i have a large C++ data structure that i'm trying to interop with... the
structure is 77400 bytes long. i have the structure defined in C#, so i was
trying to just use "ref <structure>" as the method parameter.
if i use this direct approach, i get the error:
Message: Cannot marshal 'parameter #1': Internal limitation: structure is
too complex or too large."
is there a 64k limit on marshalling structures? what workarounds are there...

Hi,
I'm writing an application that will pass a large amount of data between
classes/functions.
In C++ it was more efficient to send a pointer to the object, e.g structure
rather than passing the actual structure itself.
Is this true of C# also?

hi ,
I am not sure but I think it might be to avoid heap fragmentation due
to several malloc calls. Are there any strong reason ? What are the
other things that should take care when we implement a memory manager ,
like i) garabage collector kind of thing , ii) Safe Free of pointer in
wrapper of Free functions etc .
Thanks

Hi, list...
I have written an application in Perl some time ago (I was young and needed
the money) that parses multiple large text files containing nested data
structures and allows the user to run quick queries on the data.
(For the firewall admins among you: it's a parser and web-based query tool
for CheckPoint firewall rulebases. The user can search for source and
destination IPs and get the matching rules.)
The current application...

Hi. I have programmed in C++ before, but I`m a couple of years out
of practice. I am seeking some advice on getting started on a quickie
project. . . .
I have to read a 54MB text file and do a pairwise comparison
among 2500 items or so in the file. Each of those items have to be
compared to every other item. Many of the comparison will only require
comparing one field of the items. I will probably sort on this field
before I do the...

Hi,
I want to allocate memory for a large matrix, whose size will be
around 2.5 million x 17000. Three fourth of its rows will have all
zeroes, but it is not known which will be those rows. If I try to
allocate memory for this huge array, then I get a segmentation fault
saying:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
