Not in Standard C++.
But your platform may provide such functionality.
Unfortunately this is not the place to ask for
platform specific things.

CRT? Cathode Ray Tube?
Or a way to get the refcount on itz open handles.

None in standard C++. You need to use system specific functions. Or is
that what you meant by "CRT"?

I believe by CRT he is referring to the "C Runtime Library", which is
Microsoft's name for their standard C library, with some non-standard
extensions.

Hi all, I would like to find a word stored in a text file. Structure: I have one file named keyWords.txt that stores some key words I'm interested in finding. In addition I also have a file named textOrigin.txt in which I store the text to search in. I would like my prog to check if a certain word appears in the text and than to tell me what line it found it in (if it did...). My problem is that the script can't find the words I'm...

What would be the common sense way of finding a binary pattern in a ..bin file, say some 200 bytes, and replacing it with an updated pattern of the same length at the same offset? Also, the pattern can occur on any byte boundary in the file, so chunking through the code at 16 bytes a frame maybe a problem. The file itself isn't so large, maybe 32 kbytes is all and the need for speed is not so great, but the need for accuracy in the...

Hello All, I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change.... Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue, I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups. That's the setup: Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

I'm writing a "Hot Directory" software package that watches for an MP3 file to be uploaded to an FTP directory. When the file has completed uploading, it will be converted into a WAV file and imported into an automation system. The problem that I am having is telling if IIS (FTP) is done uploading the file and it is no longer in use. Currently, the software just checks the file time. If the time is older than 5 minutes, the software...

Hi, Im having a few issues with finding exactly which program may be accessing a certain file. Lets say I need to replace a DLL with a newer version, but I need to make sure its not being accessed. Finding out if its in use isnt a problem, but I need to find out exactly which process is using it so I can ask the user if they would like to end that process to replace the file or not.

I'm having a little trouble finding multiple occurrences of a string in a file. I have a txt file and I have to find e-mail addresses out of it. I open the file with ifstream, and use getline to read in each line. I then use str.find(str1, pos) to find the '@' symbol in the file. I just can't figure out how to pull the entire address out and not just the @ symbol. Any tips?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
