We seem to have developed a memory leak in our sql server application
and are getting the above error on occasion. Also, over several hours
of hard usage the memory consumed by the sql server ramps up and is
never released. The only thing we have found to remedy the problem is
to stop/start sql server.
My question to the group is, how can I debug this problem? Are there
system stored procedures that would be useful in indentifying any...

We have found a memory leak when using a COM library with a C# application.
The leak appears only if the C# application is compiled with the /optimize
flag. It goes away when the C# application is compiled with the /debug flag.
The COM library is coded to fire asynchronous events, which are handled by
the C# application. It is in the firing and handling of these events that
the leak occurs.
Why does the optimized application leak while...

We have a large Asp.net application that is currently crashing our production
servers. What we are seeing is the aspnet_wp eat up a bunch of memory and
then stop unexpectedly. Does not recycle.
Example:
After about 5 hours with a concurrent user base of about 150 users the
application raises the aspnet_wp memory usage by almost 500MB. If our server
guys modify the web.config this data is released and the workerprocess goes
back to a...

{Willy Skjveland} Hi, how can I trace a Memory leak in aspnet_wp.exe?
{Rheena} One moment please while I search it for you. It may take me a few
moments
{Willy Skjveland} I need to find out which application and which dll and
asmx page that cause the problem.
{Rheena} May I know what operating system you are using?

Hi all,
I have a problem related to memory grow on a server application
which is basically stateless (I have some static info loaded). The
client accesses this server using remoting and it has worked for about
2 years without problems.
The problem I have encountered lately is that the memory on server
side started to grow and not to be released. I have checked first new
functionalities but after isolating these on separate server, the...

Hi,
I'm trying to debug a memory leak on a production application for one of my
clients. The aspnet_wp.exe, if left to grow, will eventually consume enough
memory to throw an out of memory exception.
The thing that was unexpected is that most of the memory is not in the heap.
The current usage stats are:
total memory consumption of aspnet_wp.exe: 400MB

Hi,
I am using WMI to gather information about different computers (using win2K
and win 2K3), checking common classes and also WMI load balance. My
application runs every 1 minute and reports the status of the machines.
Upon we follow the .NET object lifetime recommendations the application is
constantly consuming more memory! The problem is on the
ManagementObjectSearch, upon we Dispose the object it seems that is not
releasing the...

I've detected memory leaks in our huge .NET 1.1 C# application but
couldn't localize them directly. So I've reduced the code to the
following console application:
using System;
using System.IO;
namespace MemLeak
{
class MemLeak

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
