Cn someone tell me if when i call the destructor of a derivated class,
the destructor of the base class is called implicitly?
Or shall i call the destructor by myself?
Thanks in advance

When a member function is declared as virtual in the base class, the
derived class versions of it are always treated as virtual.
I am just wondering, why the same concept was not used for the
destructors.
What I am expecting is, if the destructor is declared as virtual in
base, the destructors of all its derived classes also should be
virtual always.
What exactly is the reason for not having it so?

Is it correct that the virtual dtor of base gets called implicitly?
Here's some code to demonstrate what I mean:
Class B has a virtual destructor, so has class D which
is derived from B. Deleting D calls the dtor of D and
then the dtor of B.
I was thinking that this would be true only for non-virtual dtor case,
but I wouldn't have expected it happen for a virtual dtor.
For a class with a virtual dtor I would have expected that only
the...

Hello, first time posting.
If I have a base class and a derived class, is there only one way to
call the base constructor?
i.e. Is this the only way I can call the base constructor (presuming
the base constructor took an int):
Derived::Derived(int a) : Base(a)

Hi all,
I have a site with the following architecture:
Common.Web.dll - Contains a CommonPageBase class which inherits
System.Web.UI.Page
myadd.dll - Contains PageBase which inherits CommonPageBase
- Contains myPage which inherits PageBase
Each of these classes overrides OnInit and ties an event handler

Hi All,
Am I correct in assuming that there is no way to have a base pointer to an
object that uses multiple inheritance?
For example,
class A { /* ... */ };
class B { /* ... */ };

If I derive my own Exception class from std::runtime_error, do I have
to write the destructor even if its body is empty?
#include <stdexcept>
class Exception : public std::runtime_error
{
public:
explicit Exception(const std::string &description) :
std::runtime_error(description) { }

Assume I have a class Base, and then this:
struct Derived: public Base
{
AnotherClass member;
};
Also assume that I'm allocating an object of type 'Derived' with a
custom allocator and that, for whatever reason, I don't want to call the
constructor of 'Derived', but instead I want to build the object by

Hi all.
I am sure this is an oldie, but I can't find a useful suggestion on
how to solve it.
I have a class hierarchy of classes derived from a base class.
I would like to set up a vector of smart pointers to the base
class, and access the virtual functions of any class in the
hierarchy through the virtual functions.

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
