System.Web.Configuration.AuthenticationMode

Hello.

I'm trying to capture/determine in code the
System.Web.Configuration.AuthenticationMode.

I found an example on the Internet but when I added it to my code I received
a build error. Here's the code I added:
System.Web.Configuration.AuthenticationMode currentMode =
authenticationSection.Mode;

I tried to add System.Web.Configuration before the authenticationSection but
that didn't work since authenticationSection is not a member of
System.Web.Configuration.

I'm very new to C# so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
My .Net Framework is version 1.1.
