Coming from Java, I am looking for something similar to the online Java
API pages. I did a search and found a thread from 2003 that listed the
following link to an MSDN page. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...pref_start.asp
Not only does this seem to be for an older version of .NET, it doesn't
seem specific to C#.
Is this for ALL .NET languages?
If so, do ALL .Net languages use the same classes?
Is this page the best there is?
Is there anything for .NET 2.0?
Thanks

Hi Tom,
If so, do ALL .Net languages use the same classes?
Yes! This is (one of) the fundamental concept of .NET. When you write an
application in any .NET language, be it C#, VB .NET, F#, IronPython and
many, many others; it all goes to the same intermediate language, MSIL.
The .NET framework provides the base classes for writing applications,
including classes for data processing, network communication, user
interface, algorithms, data structures and many many more. Any language
that is designed for .NET can use these classes.
Is this page the best there is?
I, personally, like MSDN. But there are various other resources that a
quick Google search will turn up.
Is there anything for .NET 2.0?
I don't tend to browse for the classes I need, but rather search for the
documentation I'm after, using the Search box. However, try this URL:
<UrlMightWrap> http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms306608.aspx

Thanks for the info, and for the link.
Well, I don't really have to learn new syntax, so I have more time to
to learn a new library. LOL
Hopefully, this will make more sense after I spend more time mucking
around in it. I imagine I'll be spending a fair amount of time reading
through posts here as well.
Thanks again!

Hi Tom,
If you have any questions, no matter how n00b, just post them here and we'll
all try and answer them.

Be careful what you ask for. You just might get it. LOL
Trust me, I'm not shy about asking. I've asked enough questions when I
was teaching myself Java, that I finally got to the point where I could
start answering some for others. I hope that I get to that point with
C# too someday. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |
