Project Settings location

Hi,

I have added some settings to a windows forms project in VS2005.

The Settings class etc. has been created with the default values etc,
but where are the settings stored?
I have searched MSDN which just tells me how to use the settings class.

I have only added this because I want some settings that are machine
dependant. Originally I put them in the app.config file, but I am
publishing the application on the network, and app.config is a required
file and is overwritten whenever it is published.

So, I either need to know where the settings are (I assumed they would
be in an XML file) or I need another idea.
