Can someone point me to a code sample that illustrates executing long
running tasks (asynchronous) from a web application in ASP.NET? I assume
that Web Services might come into play at some point, but I'm not sure how
to get started.
For example, I have an application that, upon a user initiating through a
button or link click, will go out...

Here is a description of automatic client reroute in DB2 V8.2
"The automatic client reroute feature allows client applications to
recover from a loss of communication with the server so that they can
continue to work with minimal interruption. After a loss of
communication, the client application attempts to reconnect to the
server. If this...

Hi,
I'm developing an app with automatic version checking and updating. It must
also track what version is installed for each customer in our customer
database. I have made a small client to fetch updated file(s) from the net
and copy over the old files. I figured this must be done since the program
itself will be read/write locked as long...

Hello, I have a couple of unclear questions about ASP.NET sessions:
First, I'd like to have some way to see how many sessions currently are
running on the certain application, and, possibly, have some way to peek in
the data of these sessions. If there is no such utility for IIS, perhaps
there is some API that I could use to write a...

Does anyone out there have experience with using Db2 8.2 with a program
called MISys (also known as ACCPAC). I am having some problems with the
application running exteremly slow on workstations throughout my
office. One of the more accessed tables, which only has 3000 rows, take
almost 30 seconds to open through their application. MISys...

I was reading the code of FFmpeg and it seems that they use malloc
just too much. The problems and dangers of malloc are widely known.
Malloc also has some overhead (although I don't know what is the
overhead of automatic variable sized arrays, I suspect it is smaller
than that of malloc), although I'm not too worried about it.
I was...

hi,
I made this little crash reporter system for my project. It works by
getting hooked up to the Application.ThreadException event. If an
unhandled exception occurs , it logs it and then puts it on my ftp
account.
I tested it out and it works perfectly , I test it by Add : "throw new
Exception("Test");"

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
