I am looking for a software distributor in the States
preferably in the NY State area. I am a Dutch software
developer and have been doing my best to find such
a company, but who ever I ask, or where ever I go with
this question, the answer is zero. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Zach.

Zach,

Are you looking to distribute your own software, or are you looking to
purchase your software?

If you are looking to distribute your software, then why not consider an
online distribution?

Hi Nicholas,

I am the publisher of an application already distributed in The Netherlands.
I wish to sell an English version of the s/w in the US.
I do already have a website on which the s/w is being offered
and where it can be ordered and paid for. However my experience
in The Netherlands is that using a distributor business develops faster.
I need names of distributors in the US, particularly inthe NY State
area where I would like to start selling, else somewhere else
if you could help me there.

Sincerely,
Zach.

Hi Nicholas,

I am the developer and publisher of an application currently being
distributed in The Netherlands. For the English version of the s/w
I have a website via which the s/w can be ordered and paid for.
My experience in The Netherlands is that working through a
distributor develops business faster. I am looking for a distributor
in the NY State area, because there is where I want to start and
gain experience with the US market, but if you have information
concerning other parts of the US I would be grateful to have it.
My Dutch distributor has an enormous range of s/w, computer
related books, a website through which one can buy, and a well
known store in the capital.I am looking for something similar, not
necessarily in all respects: a sort of Amazon.com for s/w, plus
maybe one or more well known stores stores.

Sincerely,
Zach.

These two publications [1],[2] are very well established in the US and focus
on resellers, distribution, and all of the issues we in the US call "the
channel." You should check out their resources, get involved, discuss your
product(s) and perhaps buy an ad in their magazines which others do when
looking for new resellers or distributors.

I would also suggest that you should not limit your distribution to the
state of New York unless your software is used by the stock exchange or
unique banking for example. The US is a fairly big country and there's
customers everywhere.

I notice the real reason for not posting "off-topic" here is that the result will be a long thread on whether the matter is off-topic or not -- caused by the very people who claim that they don't want to see off-topic discussions posting off-topic messages complaining about the lack of topicality! Messages saying *PLONK* are also off-topic,...

For my latest develops (web pages in greek) I always use utf8 both in html&DB. Isn't that the right thing to do? again sorry for the off-topic question
