Bug? Custom exception being downgraded to base in catch on only one machine

I just ran into a weird problem. I have an application that parses an XML
document using SAX with MSXML. When it finds a certain field, it throws a
custom exception derived from Exception called PublisherException which I
catch to know that it completed successfully. This stops the SAX parser
and I go on with what I need to do.

This works fine on every machine except one. On that machine, it throws
the PublisherException like it's supposed to, but when it gets to my catch
block, it has been turned into a regular Exception. So the catch I have
for PublisherException gets skipped, and the catch for Exception gets fired.

This is using 1.0 and the machine has SP2 installed. Does anyone know why
this would happen on only that one machine but work fine on 20 other
machines?
