What's happening with my Accelerators!!???

I thought Accelerators keys worked on the active window?? Just to make
sure I wasn't going crazy, I created a test app. It's an C# MDI Windows
Form app with a child form. The parent form has a button which opens a
new child form every time it's clicked. The child form has a button
which simply updates a label on the child form with the number of times
the button has been clicked. The button has an accelerator. So I run the
app and open multiple child forms. If I click the button on a child
form, the label on the correct child form updates. But If I use the
accelerator, another form updates. What's going on? Why isn't the
active form processing the accelerator key?
