I have Visual Studio .NET and SQL Server Desktop Engine on my computer. I
have created an empty database using Visual Studio .NET's Server Explorer.
However, I am having trouble connecting to the database using ASP.NET. I
think the problem is somewhere in my connection string, but because I do not
know much about connection strings, I am not sure what it should look like.
Can someone please help me determine what my connection string should...

I have a class library that contains a number of TableAdapters and I'm using
this from a web application. Is there a way of getting the TableAdapters to
use the connectionstrings defined in web.config.
From the MSDN documentation it seems like it's possible to override settings
with values in a config file for winform applications. Is the same possible
for web applications.
I have tried to add a connectionstring (under the...

Hi, anyone using VS2008 (final) on windows Vista?
I have a problem. The ASP.NET web site administration tool on any site
created by VS2008, running on Vista, is not working as it should. I
can configure users, roles, but when I try the option 'Select a single
provider for all site management data' AspNetSqlProvider test, I
receive the message:
'Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server...

The readme.txt has:
All you need to do is open the workspace
"pcbuild.sln" in Visual Studio,
select the desired combination of
configuration and platform and eventually
build the solution. Unless you are going
to debug a problem in the core or
you are going to create an optimized
build you want to select "Release" as

1. Why does Visual Studio 2008 started ignoring //{NO_DEPENDENCIES} in
resource.h? If I edit file "resource.h" _manually_, it rebuilds the
whole solution. It worked just fine with Visual Studio 2005.
2. Why does Visual Studio 2008 not allow having two resource files
(that use the same "resoure.h") open at the same time, when they are
in different projects of the same solution (localization resource-only
dll projects?) It worked just fine...

So, what is the relationship between Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer.
I find a lot of documentation on MSDN that presents Visual Web Developer as
it's own stand-alone product (which I'd expect of the Express editions), but
apparently there are NON Express versions of Visual Web Developer.
Is Visual Web Developer only built-in to Visual Studio 2008 Professional? I
see "Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008" listed as an installed...

Hi Group
I am testing out Visual Studio 2008 Eval..
i tried to recompile my MFC C++ Visual Studio 6.0 EXE project . I get these

I can say these errors are linked to EXE function calls to MFC DLL with
CString as parameter.

I'm not sure if this is an IIS 5.1 issue or ASP.NET issue, or Visual Studio
2008 issue -- thus posting to 3 groups. Please don't be offended.
The problem I'm encountering is that Visual Studio closes unexpectedly and
without any error message being displayed, or error messages written to the
system logs. Visual Studio closes when I attempt to open an ASP.NET Web
application (not Web site) solution for which IIS is set as the project's...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
