Thanks for the reply. That is what I am trying to do. I guess I don't
have
anonymous type support because it doesn't like the syntax for this:
var item = new { Type_ID = rdr[0], Type = rdr[1] };
says Type is expected. I'm using VS 2005, target is Pocket PC. Is there
another way to do it?
Sure, just write a named class to do the same thing. The anonymous class
just allows you to not litter your code with little class declarations,
but there's no reason you can't write the class explicitly instead.

I tried that, but when I tried to go to the design view of the form it said I
could only have 1 class in the form.

I doubt that's the exact error you got. More likely, it complained that
you could only have one top-level class in the .cs file (or possibly that
the Form sub-class has to be the first top-level class...I forget the
exact requirement).

Declare the class as a nested class _inside_ your Form class. It should
work fine.

I am trying to populate a combobox with a lisy of items. I want the 1st item to be "Make a Selection" and the following items will be names from a table in my DB (See code below). When I run the project, the combox box initially displays an empty selection. When I click on the drop down arrow I see the "Make a Selection" followed by the other choices. How can I move everything up so that the "Make a Selection" is the default value in...

My form uses a dataset containing two tables, a base table (Contact) and a lookup table (Insurer). My combobox is bound as follows: DataSource = datasetContact DisplayMember = Insurer.InsurerName ValueMember = Insurer.InsurerId DataBindings.SelectedValue = Contact.InsurerId It generally works fine. Using .Net CF, i have created a 2 dimension ArrayList, and "binded" this list to a ComboBox control using the "DataSource" property. I have set the DisplaySource and ValueMember properties as well. The control populates well, both the display values, and selected values. However, when i try to "set" the SelectedValue or SelectedIndex properties, nothing happens.... The default blank value in the ComboBox is always selected. My code is: ...

ComboBox databindng Problem == How the ComboBox is setup and used: My comboBox is populated by a lookup table. The ValueMember is the lookup table's Id and the DisplayMember is the text from a corresponding field in the lookup table. In my data table we store the ID in what I will call the 'key' field. == Description of the desired operation:

Hi- I've seen this problem discussed a jillion times but I cannot seem to implement any advice that makes it work. I am porting a large project from VB6 to .NET. The issue is using the combo box bound to a table as a lookup, drawing values from another table to populate the available selections. This all worked fine in VB6. I have distilled the problem down to a simple form drawing data from the Northwind database for a representative...

VS2005 I've been reading all the help I can on the topic (MSDN, other) but I can't make sense of this. Desired behavior; The user is to choose from the displayed list of the databound combobox and the coresponding 'Id' from the lookup table is to be inserted into the field of the new record. I have two simple tables. "tblPerson" is the data table. The lookup

Hi, I am having a problem with my form being too slow to load up. I have a 4-5 of comboboxes on the form that load a lot (~30,000 records) into them. So this is causing a lot delay (5-6 seconds) for the form to load. Most of the time the form will be used for viewing data only. But sometimes the data can be edited. I am trying to reduce the startup time of the form when the clicks to load it. I was wondering if i could load the data in...

I have a combobox with items like this: {one, two, three}. The selected index is 0, so "one" appears in the combobox text. When the user drops down the list, and selects "two", for example, I modify the Items collection to be {two, one, three} and now want "two" to appear in the combobox text. However, the combobox text is now blank. the is apparently somehow the result of having changed the combobox.Items collection. If, trying to fix...

Greetings, I have to load 30,000 unique names into a combox. Filling a dataTable takes only a few milliseconds. But populating the combobox and displaying the list takes several seconds - way too long. A user selects a name from the combobox and runs a query. Originally, this combox was on a form in an MS Access ADP which was linked directly to our sql server. The combobox populated withins millisecnods. How can I achieve this...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
