LINQ. Insert. How can I do this?

Hello,

I have 3 tables:

Files FileID, Url, ...
Tags TagID, Name, ...
FilesTags FileID, TagID, ...

FilesTags is used to associate tags to each file.

Before I update a file I have the following data:
1. File Data
2. List of File Tags (TagsList)

I need to:
1. Update File Data (This is done)
2. Update File Tags ...

I am having problems updating the file tags using LINQ.

The sequence I am trying to create is:

FOR each Tag in TagsList {

Exists = Find Tag in Tags table given its name

IF Not Exists Create Tag in Tags table using the Name

Use found or created Tag ID and add record to FilesTags with
FileID and TagID
END

How can I translate this to LINQ?

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi... I have an sql server 2005 database that has a table called TestXml in it. The table has the columns ID (identity, int) and MyXml(xml). I created a stored proc on the server to insert a row into the table. It looks like this: create procedure InsertRow(@xmlDocument xml) as insert into TestXml values(@xmlDocument);

We’re storing our main entity in an insert only table which stores the history of past revisions, but we’re facing problems with storing this history as LINQ will only update the entity, and not reinsert it with a different revision number. Compounding the issue, we’ve also got an associated table storing properties for our entities...

Hi All, I am using a combination of LINQ to SQL and bulk insert. In the process of performing 'one unit of work' I will be doing things like reading, and deleting records using LINQ to SQL and then inserting new records using bulk insert. One problem I am having is trying to use a 'transaction' to wrap around the whole thing.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
