Just rand across this article: http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2143, which led to this article on using a SQL Server job: http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2403 Here's my question: I have an intranet app which tracks tickets for tech support. The boss wants it so that, depending on the severity of the ticket, we go into the DB and check every 15 minutes or so to see if the ticket is being handled. If no activity is detected in an...

I've never found a simple answer to this yet it must be an issue for a lot of web applications. Basically I want to execute code in a web application at a specific time and/or intervals (like daily at 2:00 AM). I want this to happen regardles of whether a user is accessing the application. Some years ago I solved a particular instance of this issue by setting up a Scheduled Task. The task used a command line to launch IE without an

I have two nightly scheduled jobs at a client site - one at 2:00am and the other at 5:00am Both jobs launch Access 2003, log into the default system workgroup, open a Access .mdb that collects data, then shuts down. Except for the scheduled time and file paths, the job settings are identical. The machine is password-protected, so when each job was created the password was entered.

Hi, I developed a console .exe application which is going to run on scheduled basis, it will be scheduled to run in Windows Scheduled tasks. Client wants some kind of utility that would help them manage scheduled tasks on different servers. So, how can I add scheduled task to local machine or remote servers programmatically? Thanks.

I have an application that creates an Access version of a SQL Server database and then it moves the resulting database to an ftp server for the client to download and run reports against etc. The application is dynamic in nature and requires user input, but the point is that it isn't a one off application. I would like to be able to modify the application to receive the params via the commandline and somehow run automatically off of a set...

Hi all, In my recent project (using ASP.NET 2.0 and MSSQL), I need to scheduled a certain operation to be executed, for example, on beginning of a month. Is there anyway to do this on server-side, either on ASP.NET side or SQL Server side? Many thanks in advance, Mike

I have a simple .NET 1.1 console application, written with Visual Studio .NET 2003, that needs to be run on a Windows XP system as a scheduled task. When run on its own, the program executes with no errors. When run as a scheduled task on a computer with debugging tools installed, it runs with no errors. When run as a scheduled task on a computer with no debugging tools installed, namely the Windows XP system it is supposed to be run on, it...

I have a strange problem that I think deals with security on SQL 2005. I have a scheduled task that runs on a Windows 2000 machine. It calls a vb script which creates a connection to SQL Server. We migrated a database from SQL 2000 to 2005 which is on a different box. I changed the connection in the vb script to use the new sql server. The original connection to SQL 2000 used the 'sa' account coded into the connection string , which...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
