Hi,
Using VS2008, .Net 3.5.
I have a File.Copy which is copying files to a unc path. The copying
is done by a normal Wpf application. Suddenly, trying to copy the
web.config to the unc path fails. So does File.Delete, although I
have no problems deleting the file via Explorer. Even more curious,
if I switch the build configuration to Release, it works fine. So it
only seems to happen in Debug mode.
Any ideas? Just want to restate, this is a Wpf application NOT
running under Asp.Net or a service account; it's running as me with my
WindowsPrincipa l set on the executing thread.
Thanks

Ok, I found the problem.. the target file had the ReadOnly flag set.
Code that unsets it prior to copying solves the issue.

Visual Studio throws an UnauthorizedAccessException when I attempt to debug
my ASP.NET application. The error message refers to what appears to be a
temporary DLL created by Visual Studio. The error occurs if I make a
change to HTML code. If I force a recompile of the solution, the error
goes away.
Anybody know how to make this go away?

In c# we have a function that creates a virtual directory in IIS 6.0
using DirectoryServices API. The code looks like this:
// log in to IIS
DirectoryEntry rootDir = new
DirectoryEntry("IIS://localhost/W3SVC/1/Root",ADMIN_USR,ADMIN_PSWD,AuthenticationTypes.Secure);
// create a child virtual directory
DirectoryEntry virtualDir = rootDir.Children.Add(name,
rootDir.SchemaClassName);
// set the virtual directory's physical path

To help me debug, I am writing a lot of information into a stream which

#define DEBUG
In other words, I need code which says "Whenever I write debug <<

We just recently move to code from VC++6 to VC++.NET 2005 and upgrade
the warning level from 3 to 4. In debug mode, we compile the
application with no warning no error, but when I build it in release
mode, there are quite few C4701 warnings and some C2679 errors. Note
that some of warning and error happens in debug mode as well and was
fixed. Anyone know why some of warning and error happens only in
release mode?

I just converted a solution from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio
2005 and the Debug mode seems to be running just fine, but the Release
mode crashes on the following code:
std::ifstream in("myfile.txt");
float value;
in >value; //The crash happens here in the getloc() function
The above code is actually from a library built in Debug mode that is
linked into the Release build of the executable. Does anyone have any

I have a forms-based authentication application on our intranet - ASP.NET 3.5 (C#).
For security purposes there is one specific .aspx file that we have enabled Integrated Windows Authentication turned on. Administrators in another group control access to this .aspx file via the file system. They have specifically set DENY access on this file to a few groups of employees.
If one of those employees somehow manages to bring up that .aspx,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
