On behalf of the Python development team and the Python community, I'm
happy to announce the release of Python 2.4.1 (release candidate 1).
Python 2.4.1 is a bug-fix release. See the release notes at the website
(also available as Misc/NEWS in the source distribution) for details of
the bugs squished in this release.
Assuming no major problems crop up, a final release of Python 2.4.1 will
follow in about a week's time.

perfect our deployment package (typically a script) against the
database in a Staging environment, before executing the package
against Production. One side argues that the safest approach is to
create a script containing all schema changes, data changes, stored
procs, functions, etc. Run that script against Staging until it is

I just converted a solution from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio
2005 and the Debug mode seems to be running just fine, but the Release
mode crashes on the following code:

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
