Hi,
I've a number of WCF services and other components (not services). I'm
thinking of creating a centralized logging system. One possibility is
to create a logging service that stores everything in a database
table, but I was curieus whether this is the way to go; or are there
better alternatives to handle centralized logging in a service
oriented environment?
Thanks! 4 6124
Ludwig,
What's up?
Juval has a complete logging system for WCF..if you want to do something
pre-done.
...
I think its the way to go. (the db logging part of it).
I am incorporating his mini framework piece in as well.
You can try to find it here: http://www.idesign.net/idesign/Deskt...dex=5&tabid=11
Or its in his book: http://www.idesign.net/idesign/Deskt...dex=5&tabid=11

Hi Sloan!
Well yes I know that one, because I did the Masterclass of Juval :)
But later on I would like to do other governance stuff like triggering
alarm if a service goed down; and so on. So maybe there are other
solutions (maybe commercial ones?) that support these needs?

I am working on a WCF solution that's in a production state. It's using
logging to a SQL Server Logging table in the Service layer. lu***********@h otmail.com wrote:

Use log4net - it has multiple appenders of which some are suitable
for central logging.
The important part is to get the code modified to use log4net. Then
you can always get the log info where you want it via configuration.

I am ready to move my ASP web site onto a remote host. The
problem is that when I use Terminal Services to see the
host machine, the error does not show up.
(I was told that debugging info is only sent to
the 'console' session, no others). And the whole thing
locks up when there is a server error. How can I see the
server errors through Terminal Services?
Thanks,
Sara

I'm writing a realtime monitoring application acting as a Windows service.
This service communicates to some instrumentation via a third party dll. TCP
is the transport mechanism over the network.
What I want to know is how should errors be handled in Windows services? I
foresee problems with this sort of application, especially with the tcp
side.
The service should be able to recover from errors as it's going to be sited

Hello,
I have a couple web services that I use across my apps. My isp supports
exposing them either via subdomain (e.g. services.mydomain.com) or subfolder
(e.g. mydomain.com/services). Are there any implications for doing it one way
versus another? Performance? Security?
Thanks,
Bill

Say you need to serve the same Web content from a number of IP
address, which you need to keep out there with high availability
requirements
~
I think Web Services would be a good candidate for the
synchronization of Web pages/content.
~
What some frameworks do is database development and then let the
databases themselves do the synchronization (Should I update my
knowledge of this subject ;-))

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with single sign on for .Net windows
applications or windows services? So the idea is to be able to use the
user credentials from logging into windows to authenticate the user
for using a windows application or windows service. I have found some
information on the web on how this can be done for a web application
(which relies on internet explorer for the most part) but nothing for
windows...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
