Yesterday I embarrassed myself on sci.crypt with some incorrect C
code and corresponding claims about the language. My source was
Harbison and Steele (H&S), /C, A Reference Manual/ and I thought
I was on strong ground.
The first issue, legal inputs for toupper() and other character-
handling functions, I wrote up and sent to the appropriate
address for errata items. Dr. Harbison subsequently
acknowledged that it seems to be bug. My...

Hi
I have read the various postings relating to Interop strong name
signing and cannot find an example similar to mine.
I have stringly named my AxInterops/Interops and they all work just
fine, but problems occur when I need to reference a thirdparty's
component.
In my case I am talking about Interop.ShDocVw and AxInterop.ShDocVw. If

Dear readers,
I have some problems with strong keys.
What I want to do is basically this.
A - create an application (f.x. strongHello.dll) with a strong key.
B - import the functions of this dll into a console application (f.x
StrongConsoleApp.exe) and run it if I have somehow specified the public
part of the strong key and not otherwise.

Complier: Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition
The program I wrote will compile and execute, but the output is always
the same, no matter what number is entered in for the radius of the
circle. Someone please help! I am extremely new at this, as you can
probably tell. What am I missing with the code below?

Basically I am trying to read some files, loading data structures into
memory for latter searching.
I am trying to use structres and arrays of pointers to them.
I have gotten the program to compile with gcc on WinXP.

i add more, it dies. In this program i have 4 files setup to read. The

I am trying to compile as much code in 64 bit mode as
possible to test the 64 bit version of lcc-win.
The problem appears now that size_t is now 64 bits.
Fine. It has to be since there are objects that are more than 4GB
long.
The problem is, when you have in thousands of places

I'm having problems trying to type cast in VB.Net. I'd like to read
in a 16 bit unsigned integer and convert it to a signed 16 bit
integer. I'm using the following line of code:
Dim wordVal As Short
wordVal = CShort(Val(input.Text))
output.Text = wordVal

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
