Problems opening sourcesafe (internet) project in VS 2008

Hi,
I've just installed 2008 on my home pc and am trying to open a project,
stored in sourcesafe, across the internet.
Ive enabled the sourcesafe internet plug in.
In VS2005, I would select to open a project and I would have several
location options including "visual sourcesafe (internet)"
In VS2008 I select to open an project and the default location is "Favorite
links" and listed is "Microsoft Visual Sourcesafe" but not the internet
version. Selecting this shows me my local sourcesafe database only.
On the otherhand, if I elect to open a website, Im offered visual sourcesafe
(internet) there, but my project is downloaded as a web site.

How do I access it as a regular desktop project please?
Claire

Hello, I seem to be encountering a problem that many others have encountered before me. Unfortunately, even the mighty Google seems reluctant to yield any solutions. We are developing some webservices. We have multiple developers who have Visual Studio 2003 and SourceSafe 6.0d. None of our developers have IIS installed on their machines. We have a central test server that we want to work off which runs IIS and .NET 1.1. All of our...

I have an ASP.Net application that I have been developing on my local machine for some time now. At this time, I need to deploy it to a development server since it has now become a multi-developer project and we need to integrate SourceSafe with IIS to allow for the source control for it. I know how to set up the Source Control (SS) to do this, but what I need to know before hand is: The ss admin does not want to turn on individual...

Scenario: This is about debugging server side scripts that make calls to middle-tier business DLLs. The server side scripts are legacy ASP 3.0 pages, and the DLLs are managed DLLs converted/developed with VB.NET. What I want from debugging is to be able to step into the methods in the DLLs called from ASP scripts using Visual Studio .NET. Background: For typical script debugging issues, you can read and follow the two documents on...

Hi, I use VS.Net 2003 with Visual SourceSafe 6.0d on a Windows 2000 Standard Server. Today, when I tried to open an existing ASP.Net project from VS.Net, the "Set Project Location" window came up. Here are what I got from that window: === Project Name Source Control Server Location Enter Working Copy Location Here ------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ ...

I am not sure if this should be under the SourceSafe or the VB.NET forum, so I will post to both and hope someone has the answer: I have a VB.NET project stored under SourceSafe - Let's say the name of the solution and project is 'XYZ Project 2004 .NET'. Now, what I need to do is CHANGE the name of this solution/project tom something else - for laughs lets say I want to change it to 'XYZ Project .NET' (i.e. remove the 2004 part). ...

Hi all... Well my earlier post aboout not being able to access http://localhost has been resolved. I am still having problems testing my Web site project. First, thanks to Juan Libre I edited my HOSTS file and can access localhost. However, what I found in the HOSTS file was not what I expected. Juan mentioned that the following line might be missing. 127.0.0.1 localhost

Hi I'm having a problem accessing my dotnet projects through Visual Studio 2008 & SourceSafe 2005 (Internet) on XP Pro. Firstly, I've set up the Source Control in VS2008's Tools -Options for both: 1. Current source control plug-in = Microsoft Visual SourceSafe (Internat) 2. Always use SSL to connect to the server = UNTICKED

Hi, I have the same .NET program developed on two machines, therefore, two different versions, call them A and B. There are following differences between A and B: 1) They have differences in source code; 2) Since A is developed in Visual Studio 2005 with .NET 2.0, but B is developed in Visual Studio 2003 with .NET 1.1, the project files are

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
