RequiredFieldva lidator displays error too early

Hi there

I have a RequiredFieldVa lidator that displays the text "Required field" for
a textbox. The problem is, that the text "Required field" is displayed
BEFORE the user presses the button to accept the form. Why does this occure?
Must be some setting I've missed, cause in other forms it works as it
should, where the text is not displayed until the user click the accept
button.

My textbox and validator looks like this:

<asp:TextBox ID="tbFirstName " runat="server"
Width="204px"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:RequiredFi eldValidator ID="reqFirstNam eUser"
runat="server" ControlToValida te="tbFirstName "
Enabled="True" ErrorMessage="R equired field"
Display="Dynami c">
</asp:RequiredFie ldValidator>

I'm having a really strange problem with and HtmlSelect server control (listbox) and a RequiredFieldValidator that I am trying to use to make sure that someone has items in the listbox. The way that the HtmlSelect is populated is via a combination of client-side javascript and another aspx page (launched by the javascript). Anyway, everything seems to work just fine in terms of populating the HtmlSelect. However, when I postback the...

There seems to be way too much confusion over how to set focus on the a field using a field validator. I looked all over the web and found people trying to do this, but not getting anywhere. There are a couple of people selling components... but that is not really an option for me... So, I took the plunge and modified the "WebUIValidation.js" file to make it happen... After tracing through file, I figure it out. It was actually pretty...

Is there any particular reason why a requiredfieldvalidator cant validate a listbox? I have bound the two together but the validator always returns false on isvalid and so does the Page, no matter if the user selects an item in the listbox or not.

Hello, I have a simple form with some input boxes. After validation if one fails, then I would like to at the top of the page say something like "The following fields in red are required" and then change the label in front of the textbox or dropdown list to red... is this possible with asp.net? It seems you can only put a RequiredFieldValidator on the page, and if it fails validation then that text is displayed... ? Thanks

Hi, I have a Asp.Net written in C#. It serve as information input form. The form encounters sort of random problem with the email field and state field. I have validator attached with these 2 fields as the following: ===== <form id="creditcardform" method="post" runat="server"> Email: <asp:textbox id="txtBillEmail" maxlength="50" width="200" runat="server" /> <asp:requiredfieldvalidator id="vp10" runat="server" initialvalue="" ...

Dear Friends, I need your help. I am trying to dynamically create a RequiredFieldValidator in the ItemCreated event of a DataList but cannot get it to work. The errors seem to revolve around the .ControlToValidate property. When a new Item is created, I check the information coming in from my database. Based on a field value (TypeID), I create a different control needed for input: (TextBox, ListBox, DropdownList, etc...), add this...

Hi All, I have a simple form, which contains a asp textbox and a requiredfieldvalidator, with a submit button. I can run my website up locally and there is not a problem, and the form works like it should and displays an error message, if the field is left blank. However... Once deployed to my live web server, the form behaves differently and postback's the page instead of displaying the error message... Why is this happening ?...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
