I have a ASP.Net web application that has two assemblies that run
under com+. Under Windows 2000 the two assemblies are added to com+
automatically when instantiated from the web site. For this to happen
we had to change the context in which asp.net runs from machine to
SYSTEM by modifying the machine.config file. Under Windows 2003 no
matter how asp.net is set to run as either machine or system. I get
the following error:

Could anyone suggest me some examples/articles on creating a setup program
in VS.NET that can install the assembly into the GAC? I have done some
search and research myself and have some basic understanding on how to
create a setup program. All the articles about Windows Installer 2.0 is the
best way to install your assembly into GAC but I haven't found one shows
what exactly I need to do differently in my VS.NET setup project in order...

I've built a dll component that is compiled from contains a number of
generic classes, each in separate .vb files, that I'd like to use in several
web applications. Currently I'm simply placing a copy of it in each of the
\bin directories, but realise the best idea is to install in in the GAC.
I'm not clear though as to the method for this, particularly where the
assembly information (key file, version number etc.) needs to go. As...

I have a VS 2005 winforms project and am trying to get clickonce deployment
working correctly. I published the deployment to a test server on my
network. It created the publish.htm and from my dev machine I can pull up
publish.htm from the browser and it seems to run OK. However, from a test
machine the installation fails. From the test machine I can pull up
publish.htm with no problem. When I click on the install button I get the...

I published my app in Visual Studio 2005. I'm getting a problem installing
on one PC. During the install, the following error appears:
"Unable to run or install the application. The application requires that
assembly ADODB 7.0.3300.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC)
first."
The VB6 install used to give you a choice of adding references. The VS 2005
Publish doesn't give any options to include references. What should I be...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
