I know some of you have seen this problem. Stepping through code in the
debugger is slow as heck in Visual Studio 2005. Well here is the problem,
Edit and continue. Because edit and continue does run time compileing of
code as it executes, it causes a big slow down in execution time. To disable
this and return the debugger to the normal speed as it was in VS.NET 2003,
do the following.
Go to tools menu > options
Select debugging form...

While stepping through an ASP.NET project, I found that data was being
inserted into my database even though I was not stepping through the
code that inserted the data.
I have a single page with inline code. The page has a Datagrid, a
textbox and a button. When the button is clicked, the value of the

I've just got round to trying VB in .Net 2003 (since MS pulled the rug
from under VB6) and... it wont let me edit and continue??? In fact it
wont even let me edit whilst debugging
"cannot currently modify this text in the editor. It is read only"

I'm using VS2005 and am trying to get Edit and Continue to work while
debugging. I've gone to the Tools-Options-Debugging dialog box and made
sure "Enable Edit and Continue" is checked, but when I start debugging and
try changing the code, it just ignores any changes I've made. If I add a
new line while debugging and try to step through the code, the debugger just
skips the new line.
Can anyone give me some suggestions?

I have 16-bit data that I want to display. In order to display it I
compress a certain range of the input data into 8 bit (I need control
over this). All seems to work ok except that it is dead slow both in
release and debug mode. The main problem is the for-loop shown in the
code bellow. Without the for-loop I can get somewhere around 10-20
updates/second. With the for-loop I get an update every 2-3 seconds.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
