Debugging design time behavior od user controls.

How do you debug the design time behavior of user controls? I have code in the controls resize event and I've flagged a break point, but the code never breaks when I play with the control on the form in the test project at design time.

Thoughts?

Hi,

To debug a program at rum-time, we could just set some break points on the
code. When the program is run with debugger(press F5), the program will
enter into break mode when it executes the statement marked with a break
point.

However, to debug a UserControl at design-time, we need to do more work.
There's a walkthrough in MSDN for this topic. You may visit the following
link for the detail information.

"Walkthroug h: Debugging Custom Windows Forms Controls at Design Time"
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...24(vs.80).aspx

Hope this helps.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

Sincerely,
Linda Liu

Scenario: This is about debugging server side scripts that make calls to middle-tier business DLLs. The server side scripts are legacy ASP 3.0 pages, and the DLLs are managed DLLs converted/developed with VB.NET. What I want from debugging is to be able to step into the methods in the DLLs called from ASP scripts using Visual Studio .NET. Background: For typical script debugging issues, you can read and follow the two documents on...

Many (if not most) have said that code-behind is best if working in teams - which does seem logical. How do you deal with the flow of the work? I have someone who is good at designing, but know nothing about ASP. He can build the design of the pages in HTML with tables, labels, textboxes etc. But then I would need to change them to ASP.net objects and write the code to make the page work (normally I do this as I go - can't do this...

Simple question... I'd like to resize my user control at design time based upon the rectangle I select on the form into which I drop the control. How is this done? (For an example of this behavior, try adding some MonthCalendar controls onto a form of various sizes. They all resize according to the rectangle you draw. Lets keep it simple and say i just want to change the height/width of the control based on the rectangle I draw.)

Hi When I'm debugging and somewhere in the code I have a breakpoint, many times when the code after breakpoint finishes and the app returns I can do nothing within in it(it's like freeze)... The app behaves strangely and not accepts any event even close event!!!!! It just lefts for me to stop debugging clicking the respective button in the vs.net toolbar... I don't know if this behaviour is a bug of vs.net or if it's consequence of bad...

I have MS Visual Studio 2003 on Windows XP Pro. I have IIS running on this machine and I am trying to debug some existing code which has both ASP and ASP.NET components. When I try and launch the debugger from VS, I am told it can't because the project is of output type class library. The error indicates I should set the start action to start external program or start URL. I tried both of these and cannot seem to get the debugger to...

First off, I'm a hardware/OS guy. I just write code on the side and I'm completely self taught - so bear in mind my total lack of expertise. I have a program originally written in VB2003 using the dotnet 1.1 framework. The program makes extensive use of Win32 API calls to help manage and track remote access sessions with out clients. I've left it running for days at a time on my system with no problems. It has always been stable. I...

Hi , We have developed a number of plug-in .NET Library Components that we typically deploy with our various applications by installing them into the GAC. Each of the applications contains an app.config file referencing arbitrary versions of the plug-in components they wish to consume. Here's the problem: Assuming I have installed any one of our application software,

I'm new to asp.net. I'm trying to follow the tutorial walkthroughs and have got a few done. Now I'm doing the one about validating input, and I've run into some problems. In particular, I am watching very intermittent behavior of my ASP page. when I execute: protected void buttonSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
