Framework (1.1) installation issues

(This was posted in the Framework.Setup group a couple of days ago
with no response. Hoping someone here has an idea on this.....)

Hello,
I'm unable to install (re-isntall) the 1.1 Framework.

Recently, one user started having trouble running ANY .net apps
(0xC0000005 Error - App Failed to Initialize).

As part of the troubleshooting a MS MVP suggested re-installing the
Framework.

I un-installed the Framework with not problem.

But during re-install, the install extracts and installs files,
creates the registry entries, and appears ti finish... almost. At the
very end, a rollback begins and the install fails.

Below is an extract from the install log which details where things
start to go bad.

Any ideas on what's wrong? At this point I'm stumped, and can't seem
to find any answers (suggest a new google term?).

Thanks
-tomas

I've written Windows shareware applications using MFC for several years. Now I'm standing at the point to choose a language and platform for a new small application much less than 1MB of footprint. Microsoft seems to recommend .NET framework and C#. Also personally, I'd like to try C#. However, two issues remain to be resolved. 1. If C# is used, .NET framework would be prerequisite. But I'm not so sure if my customers would be willing...

Hi everyone, I have observed that the ngen process appears in the list of processes in taskmgr while .net framework 1.1 gets installed. This process consumes 0-50% of cpu and 0-20K of RAM. I would like to know if this process can be a cause of slowing down performance of a high speed application. The installer of this application

Can the 3.5 version of .NET Framework (currently Beta 2) be installed on pre-Vista machines? Or is it Vista-only? And, why doesn't .NET Framework come pre-installed with the operating system? I think one of the main reasons people will reject such software is having to install something first. I understand it might need upgrading, but why do Windows machines come without any .NET Framework (or am I wrong about this)? It seems that...

My old HD crashes, so I had to do a total re-install. After installer XP, I went to the Micrsoft Update site to get all the update. After 5 hours or so ... the update cycle started looping. You see, it wanted to install the Dot Net Framework for me, so okay, I let the Update site do the download the installation.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
