I've googled, and read, and stripped out code, and rewritten code, and
still can't get a System.Threading.Timer to work. (I hereby publicly
admit that I'm a failure here...) Could someone please take a quick
look at this and tell me where I'm going wrong? My actual use is more
complex, but when I couldn't get that to work I created a new service
project and figured to get a simple threading timer going first then
I'd revamp my actual code...

I've created a pocketpc app which has a startup form containing a listview.
The form creates an object which in turn creates a System.Threading.Timer.
It keeps track of the Timer state using a TimerState object similar to the
example in the System.Threading.Timer documentation. The method which
handles the timer events, among other things, periodically calls a method in
this TimerState object which raises an event to the startup form,...

I'm having a problem that occurs at random in my app.
I get an exception
"Cannot Access a disposed object"
In MSCorLib when calling boolean Change (int32, int32)
Stack trace reveals
System.Threading.Timer.Change(Int32, int32)
at Systems.Timers.UpdateTimer()

Hi
Just a quick question...
When would you use System.Timers.Timer, and when System.Threading.Timer?
What are the principal differences between them?
There is a lot of discussion about System.Timers.Timer and its use in
running background server activities, but not much about
System.Threading.Timer other than in the reference, which doesn't give

Hi,
What is the best way to release all resources holded by the Timer
(myTimer from class System.Timers.Timer)?
Is it:
1- myTimer.dispose
2- myTimer.enabled = false
3- myTimer.close

I have a windows application written using VB .NET that encompasses a
countdown timer modal dialog. The timer is a System.Timers.Timer with
an interval of 1 second. AutoReset is not set so accepts the default of
True. The Elapsed event handler updates the dialog box with how long
before it will close, acting as a timer itself. The dialog has a time
to close property which is checked every time the Elapsed event fires.
The problem I have...

I created a windows form application. It has a Threading.Timer and when
the timer ticks it does some work and show a popup window.
The problem is that while this program is running if the user tries to
shutdown Windows, my application doesn't quit and neither does
Windows. Of course, if the user first click of my application and
then tries to shutdown, there is no problem.
To solve this problem, I overrode WndProc of the main form,...

I have just put together a vb.net app and now need to provide it to
users. This application needs to run the code in a sub every 60
seconds from a Windows Service application. I have the functionality
of the sub working fine but I cannot figure out how to run the timer.
The sub DoSomethingHere() needs to run every 60 seconds. It doesn't
need to change the interval or anything like that. It just needs to
run every 60 seconds as long as...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
