Hi all,
Can someone please reasure me that it is entirely possible to use the Data
Access Application in large applications - even those that require
transactions?
I have a friend who is adament that the application block is crap because it
uses static methods. He thinks that because its using static methods it is
completely riddled with concurrency holes.

Hi
Is Microsoft's Sqlhelper.cs (Microsoft Application Blocks for .NET -
Data Access) Thread safe?
The documentation has no references to threads.
Thanks

Say I have a childThread currently is running a finally block to
cleanup external resources. At the same time the main thread calls
childThread.Abort(). The question is: when the ThreadAbortException
is thrown, does the childThread finish the remaining code in the
finally block?

I understand the use of Application.DoEvents() to process all outstanding
messages on the message queue in a winforms application if you have long
running process on the UI thread. But can anyone explain to me why I need to
call DoEvents when I am using a COM component that calls back to into the
..Net application? - If I don't call DoEvents after receiving a callback then
sometimes no more messages are pumped, it appears that the message...

I have the Microsoft Press: Developing Microsoft ASP.NET Server Controls and
Components book. It's starting to shine some light on control development
but there is something about composite controls that I don't understand...
I've included a snippet from Chapter 12 below on Composite Controls:
<start>
Override the CreateChildControls method to instantiate child controls,
initialize them, and add them to the control tree. Do not perform...

Does anyone have any input on setting up my CAB application so that the
application is thread safe, and cached appropiately? I read that this
can be managed through Services, and dynamic injection. On the
contrary, I was told that this can be handled using Enterprise Library
cached application block. Last, but not least, i read you can implement
this at the class level, creating immutable classes, and caching them
accordingly. Any...

I was wondering if anyone knows where the best place to set up a CAB
app to be thread safe? I read about singleton patterns, dependency
injections, and making lower level classes immutable, but i'm not clear
on the best approach. Any suggestions?

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
