How to convert UTF8 data to a ASCII data?

I read the content from a file encoded with UTF8 like this:
byte[] data = binaryReader.Re adBytes(file.Le ngth);

And next step, I want to transform data to ASCII format, How can I do
this?
You know, Using Encoding.UTF8.G etString(data) can get a ASCII string,
but I need a byte[].
I hope you get my point. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

try

using System.Text;

ASCIIEncoding ascii = new ASCIIEncoding() ;
UTF8Encoding utf8 = new UTF8Encoding();

byte[] asciiBytes = Encoding.Conver t(utf8, ascii, utf8bytes);

I only work in Perl occasionaly, and have been searching for a solution for a conversion, and everything I found seems much too complex. All I need to do is take a simple text file and copy it, however some specific lines are in fact in UTF8 as printed garbagy characters and they need to be converted to Unicode, so that the new text file can be imported into a desktop program and into some Word documents. For the moment I would be...

Hi, I have text from mime email messages with different encoding that I want to convert to utf-8, but I'm relatively new on encoding problems. I use the following code, but this doesn't seem to work (the in and output remains the same): string x=toUTF8("=?GB2312?B?s8q5q8u+vq3A7aGissbO8bK/w8W1xNK7t+LQxQ==?=","GB2312");

Hi all, I'm creating a fixed length textfile with data which is sent out to a third-party which in turn reads the file and processes it. Some of the characters are not part of the lower ASCII table. This causes problems because an È (&HC4) in the textfile is converted into 2 bytes on the receiving end which then in turn shifts the remaining data on the line one byte to the right... and in a fixed length textfile that's a disaster Is...

Hi, I need to convert a string from UTF8 to wide character (wchar_t *). I perform the same in windows using: MultiByteToWideChar(CP_UTF8, 0, pInput, -1, pOutput, nLen); However, in linux this API is not available. However, there exists mbstowcs() API, which converts multibyte string to wide character. But will this API convert UTF8 encoded string to wide character? Or this

I'm developing a cgi-bin application that must be unicode sensitive. I'm striving for a UTF8 implementation. I'm running python 2.3 on a development machine (windows xp) and a server (windows xp server). Both environments are running Apache 2.2 with the same configuration file. The problem is this. On my development machine I get the following unicode error: UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode bytes in position 4-6: invalid...

Hello! I have Oracle 10g using AL32UTF8 as internal charset. I have a documents table where uploaded files (I'm using modplsql web-gateway (release 8i)) are stored in a blob-column. I upload a CSV-File to this table which is in ISO 8859-1 Charset. I now need to convert this binary data (which is in fact all character-data) into utf-8.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
