Hi. I want to get a C++ IDE, but I dont know whether to go for Bill Gate's
solution or Borland's. Could any kind folks detail the relative strength
and weaknesses of both, and also tell me which you yourselves prefer.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am converting my table and record classes into templates.
My issue is the syntax of declaring a friend class within
the template. I have searched the C++ FAQ Lite (web),
the C++ newsgroups, "Thinking In C++" to no avail.

Hello all,
Do you know whether any new compiler support the `export` keyword of
C++ template feature?
When I learn the language and try to use it, I often have to give up
the part of whole template due to the absent of those features.

i'm trying to create a class that will contain all the features of
instantiating a window and showing it. I've got the SetWindowLong /
GetWindowLong pair to succesfully store the 'this' pointer in the hWnd's
GWL_USERDATA, but the pointer that it's referring to always seems to point
to the base class and never the derived class. I don't know what I'm doing
wrong, this has been driving me mad for hours. Consequently, the static
WndProc...

Hi All,
I'm new of this group and I do not know if this is the correct group
for my question.
I have a DLL with its export library (.lib) wrote in Borland C++ 6. In
borland everything is OK and I am able to include the lib and use the
class that i have exported creating an instance with new etc... I
would like to export this class in microsoft VC++ using the same .lib
file. Obviously it doesn' t work.

Diehards,
I developed a template matrix class back around 1992 using Borland C++ 4.5
(ancestor of C++ Builder) and haven't touched it until a few days ago. I
pulled it from the freezer and thawed it out. I built a console app using
Microsoft Visual C++ 6 (VC++) and it worked great. Only one line in the
header file had to be commented out.
I built a console app using Borland C++ Builder 5. The linker complained of
references to...

I have a loooong debugging session behind me! I finally found the reason for the problem and now would like to know, if it is a bug in my code or not standardconformant behavour of the compiler(s) or not a bug at all and just normal behavior:
This simple sample program illustrates the problem. Please use separate header (.h) and code (.cpp) files, because it plays a role in the problem...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
