I'm really confused here, and am wondering if someone knows what could
be the issue with my TableAdapter query.
A few months ago, I created a really neat program that has th ability
to search by a client account number. In the TableAdapter, I created a
new query called "FillbyAccountN umber". When I created this, I set up
the SELECT statement so that it selected all the fields I wanted and
then used the following WHERE clause:
WHERE account LIKE @account + '%'
When a user clicked a button, it would load this FillbyAccountNu mber
query, and pull the value of a textbox for the @account variable - the
nice feature is that you could type "902" to return accounts "90201",
"90255" and so forth, because of the wildcard. A DataGridView would
display the results, and everything was great. Pretty simple, right?
Now, I'm designing another program that does the same thing, only with
a different database. I literally tried copying and pasting the query
from my old program into my new one, and THE WILDCARD DOESN'T WORK. If
I want to get account "90201", I have to physically type "90201", and
it will not show up if I type "902". The reason why this is a big issue
is because some accounts have "sub-accounts" like "90201-A", which will
now only show up if you search for them exactly, instead of using the
wildcard. In the TableAdapter, I've even gone in to the QueryBuilder
for this query and tested it using the "Test Query" button. It popped
up, asked for my variable, and worked fine, but it's not loading the
DataGridView until I search for the exact value. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAU GH!
I have been comparing code from the old program to the new one for the
last two hours and I'm at the end of my rope here. I can't figure out
why it would be doing this. I'm even using the same database and MSSQL
connection string as the old program, as the new tables I need to work
with are in the same database. Any help would be GREAT, as apparently
I'm not smart enough to figure out this simple issue.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

What are the column definitions in the old and new databases?
From what you've described, your problem probably lies somewhere you're not
looking. For example, if the account number passed in @account has a
trailing space, then you'll see the symptoms you're describing.
-cd
What is the data type of [account] column ? Is it the same (data type and
size) in both databases ?

A question for gui application programmers. . .
I 've got some GUI programs, written in Python/wxPython, and I've got
a help button and a help menu item. Also, I've got a compiled file
made with the microsoft HTML workshop utility, lets call it
c:\path\help.chm. My question is how do you launch it from the GUI?
What logic do I put behind the "help" button, in other words.
I thought it would be

Is there a way to get help the way you get it from the Python
interpreter (eg, 'help(dir)' gives help on the 'dir' command) in the
module cmd.Cmd? I know how to add commands and help text to cmd.Cmd
but I would also like to get the man-page-like help for classes and
functions. Does anyone know how to do that? Thanks.

Missing Help Files
When I enter "recordset" as the keyword and search the Visual Basic Help index,
I get many topics of interest in the resulting list. But there isn't any
information available from clicking on many of the available topics (mostly
methods but some properties are also unavailable). This same problem occurs
with many, if not most, keywords.
Is there any way I can activate these "missing" help topics? HELP!

I have written a help file (chm) for a DLL and referenced it using Help.ShowHelp
My expectation is that a developer using my DLL would be able to access this help file during his development time using "F1" help within the VB IDE. Is this expectation achievable
In trying to test my help file in the IDE, I have a solution with 2 projects: the DLL and a tester. VB does not look for my help file; instead, it looks for path to my source code...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
