I am confused how strongly typed dataset is different from un-typed dataset.
Is there any good link explaining pros and cons of both? Which one should be
used preferably?

I have a situation in which I have a strongly typed dataset based on the
schema of a xml document. This works great, and OMG I love strongly typed
datasets... ;o)
However, The situation I have has a nested complex type. For example:
<PAGE>
<PAGENUMBER>1</PAGENUMBER>
<PAGETITLE>This is the title</PAGETITLE>
<IMAGES>

I want to remote several strongly typed datasets and I don't want to
distribute the assemblies. I wish to create interface assemblies for
these datasets but I don't know where to start.
I've tried to use soapsuds, but this did not work correctly. I tried
to use NMatrix XofG, but this seems very complicated.
All I need is something that will convert a class file into an
interface. Is there anything already built that will do this? ...

I have been developing applications with Java for quite a while but I am new
to .NET development. I am trying to learn the ".NET way" of creating Strongly
Typed Objects from a database. The Enterprise Library seems pretty close to
what I am used to in Java but I am not sure how to create strongly-typed
DataSets. I see that I can use the LoadDataSet method from a
Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Database but I am not clear on how...

I've created a strongly typed DataSet (Customers.xsd) using the xsd.exe
tool. I want to be able to access fields using
ds.Customer.CompanyName.
The problem is when I return this DataSet from a Web Service it adds
another Table to the DataSet that contains the data. I have to access
the data using ds.Tables.Rows.ToString(). This
defeats the whole purpose of using a strongly typed DataSet.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I am working on an application that requires working with numbers in
scientific notation. I am using SqlServer as the database and I have
created strongly typed data adapters and datasets. The numbers are
defined as numeric in the SqlServer Database and are bound to text
boxes in the app. In the dataset xml these numbers are defined as
decimal. I am using the binding method Format to display the data in
scientific notation and Parse to...

Does VS.2005 support strongly typed datasets between PocketPC and Web Services?
I have a project stalled and must decide whether to wait for VS.2005 or go
back to untyped DataSets.
thanks herbert

I have started using strongly typed datasets as the basis of my data access
layer. They work well but can be a bit fiddly when adding columns. I have a
column which refuses to "change". It is an integer which when I change its
value in the datatable it changes from 1 to 2 (I can see it in the
debugger). When I call the update method it resets back to 1.
Does anyone have any ideas. I don't want to recreate my DAL object without
knowing...

Hi,
I have understood Data Sets but what is meant by typed/untyped/
strongly typed datasets. Can any one explain me or suggest any site/
article, to get these concepts (and their comparisions) cleared?
Thanks,

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
