hello,
I'm allocating a byte-Array in C# with byte byteArray = new byte;
Now I want to pass this byte-Array to a managed C++-function by reference,
so that I'm able to change the content of the byteArray and afterwards see
the changes in C#.
(if you wanna know more details: the goal is to write the content of an
existing char-array in c++ precisely into the passed byteArray, so that
after the function has proceded the content of the...

Hello,
The following posting was made on this newsgroup some 2 yrs ago. Is
this still true with the present release of .net.
Because I get the exact same exception thrown "Function pointer not
created by a delegate".
Or is there a work around provided for this. In my case I don't think
the methods pointed to by function pointers follow __cdecl calling

I need to be able to pass a pointer to a (managed code) Stream object to a
COM method so it can serialize its data into the stream.
I have a C# application that makes uses of Randolf Duke's MimeSniffer COM
component (http://www.codeproject.com/internet/mimesniffer.asp). My
application (pop3ImageGrabber) uses MimeSniffer to identify each image
attachment in emails that have been collected from a POP3 mailbox.
MimeSniffer gives the...

Any and all:
Is there an efficient way to pass a large array from .NET to COM? Can
references (or pointer) be passed from COM to NET and NET to COM without the
object it refers to being copied?
Thanks in advance.

I am trying to pass a function (method) address to a user control to
associate with an event.
The small user control which sends events is contained in a larger user
control group which is in turn contained in the main application. I need the
event handler to exist at this top level in the application, and so I'm
trying to somehow let the small control (two layers down) know the address
of this handler, so that the function is called.

I will present my problem :
I am wrapping a C dll in C#. The C dll exports a function which takes a
structure MYSTRUCT holding 2 function pointers(callback functions).

Hi!
I've been working with DLLimports passing structs and various other parameters to unmanaged code. I had problems earlier sending pointer to structs to the unmanaged code, and this forum solved it for me (using the ref keyword etc).
I now encountered a function that takes a pointer to an array as a parameter, and this array consists of other pointers, to structs. Horrible isn't it?
I have no way of modifying the unmanaged code, I...

I'm using managed (CLR) C++ in VS2005 to create a Windows app that contains a form named "MyForm". In the code for that
form I'm trying to invoke some static functions by using an array of function pointers (delegates). I assume I need to
use the array< T keyword to allocate an array of delegates, and then initialize the array by setting each array
element to the pointers (handles) of the functions I'll be invoking.
I've been trying to...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
