Based ont the code sample, it provides the feature to install service under LocalSystem account. What I need is to install service under some other certian account. By further studying the code, and MSDN...

Hello apologies if this is the wrong newsgroup to be sending this to. Basically, I have an ASP.NET application that I am trying to force to use a proxy server settings. This can be done by accessing machine.config, but I do not have access to the client machine.config machine. Therefore every request made from this application must have these proxy server settings. But I am having problems writing the code for this.

Sorry if this is in the wrong group, I've searched long & hard without finding anything even slightly useful. (recommendations for a more relevant group gratefuly received) I need to change the settings for the default web service user account so that sounds go through a sound card rather than the on-board sound. I can do this simply when I'm logged in to my own user account by going through control panel. If I can't log on as the Web...

Hello all, I have this problem. I have a windows service and I would like to put there Settings for starting this service. Because of this service is running under NETWORK_SERVICE account, what is the best way to use settings? Should I create my own settings or can I use classic application settings. Is there way to change this application-scoped settings change programmatically? Thanks.

Hi How do I programmatically change (read/write) the values in this app.config file at runtime? Specifically I want to change the client endpoint address but it would be nice to change other values too. I thought this is what ServiceHost is for but is seems way more complicated to use for what I'm trying to do. <system.serviceModel> <bindings>

Yes, sorry I tried to make it clear in the original question that I want to get the user token of the service - ie. the account the service is running under. I know services don't have user tokens - I suspect users do have tokens, hence "user token", otherwise we might call them "service tokens" or somesuch :-) If you read the question again, you migh see that the fundamental question is, *assuming there is no other approach*: The...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
