I am trying to create a report that displays a name of an advertising
source and count of the number of times it was hit between certain date
ranges. The data is split between two different databases: this access
db, and a remote MySQL server. The MySQL tables are linked in the access db.
What I have done so far is created an On Open event for a report that

I am having a problem with getting My.Log.WriteException to write to the
Event Log in ASP.Net 2.0 with a web service.
When an error occurs, My.Log.WriteException doesn't log anything to the
Event Log. Played around with it and ended up adding the following listeners
to catch and write to the event log by adding the following code in the

Writing to a registered source in the Application event log

I am trying to write to the event log with the My.Log.WriteEntry("MyMessage")
The call does nothing. I think that I need to set up the Listeners in the
config file. Is there any information on how to set up the listener for the
Application log and how to setup new logs for the app.

I've been having a problem writing to an event to the Application log. I
believe the issue is caused by the fact that the source was previously both a
custom log and the source.
I deleted the log using EventLog.Delete(logname);
I couldn't delete the source as it there was an error reporting that I
couldn't delete the event source as it had the same name as the log. Once I
deleted the log, the source appeared to not have any reference to...

Can somebody give me a hint why my custom install action does not register
event log sources, when I run the MSI package generated by VS2005.
The same install action DLL executed via installutil.exe registers evrything

Actually, my installer package is not for a Windows Service, but for a
WinForms application.
Well, it is kind of both: this is a multi-project solution with its main
target being a WinForms application, but it also includes a Windows Service.
