Exception ReleaseCOMObjec t

Hi,

we are using a framework (which is based on the Microsoft Enterprise
Library) and retrieve a ReleaseCOMObjec t Exception.

When I try to debug I can find out any information about the COM object.

How can I find out which COM object is responsible for the exception?

Thanks
Christian

Hi Christian,

It might be that you attempt to use an Enterprise Library object that has
already been disposed for some reason. It would be really helpful if you
could post all the exception information here, including the stack trace.

I have a COM based component that raises an exception and I'm awaiting a patch for it. However, I need to be able to recover from the exception, destroy the COM object and then regenerate it @ a later date in my C# Windows Forms App. I presently do this: System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(obj); obj = null; System.GC.Collect(0);

Hi, we are using a framework which is based on the Enterprise Library June 2005. When I am locking a object (successfull) and let the application run further I receive a NullReferenceException (Problem with: System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject). In the eventview I see a error "Failed to fire the WMI Event DataConnectionOpenedEvent" Exception: System.Exception: The scheme for the assembly was not registered with WMI.

Hi, I have a service, that runs perfectly when executed outside of the web service environment. When called as a web service I get the exception listed below sporadically. A call to the web method may succeed one time and not another. I cannot find any reason why it would work one time and not another. The exception occurs every two or three calls to the web method. The service utilizes a COM component provided by PeopleSoft...

Hello there, I have some doubts about the best practice for using COM automation, the Runtime Callable Wrapper (RCW) and Marshal.ReleaseComObject. So the question is/are: Do I need to release each COM object explicit by a call to Marshal.ReleaseComObject, does the RCW take care of that or does it leaks unmanaged resources?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
