Have you checked out the System.Net.Mail namespace? It is in .NET 2.0,
and should handle what you need.
In .NET 1.1 and before, you can use the System.Web.Mail namespace, but
it requires a local SMTP server.
If you don't like either of those, you can use the classes at
http://www.indyproject.org.
