Folks,
I would like to create an application in VC# 2005 that would sit on top of
IIS in Windows Server 2003 and have to capability to create forums or lists
that can be accessed via the mail, web, or newsgroup interface. Obviously,
there would have to be some mechanism to integrate the postings from the
three interfaces. If possible I'd like to use the built-in SMTP and NNTP
servers in Windows 2003 and somehow glue them together with the web server.
I know this is a very complex project but I'd really to take up this
challenge as a learning experience.
Could you suggest any resources where I could learn how to do this? I'd
really appreciate any help or advice that you can share.

I don't know if you will be able to glue them together with the web
server, but you shouldn't have a problem doing this.
Before you go through all of the trouble though, I would recommend dot
net nuke, a set of free modules for ASP.NET. It probably has a good amount
of this built in already, and you can always extend it on your own.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Nicholas. I have DotNetNuke installed so I'll explore it further
and see what can be done with that.
Actually, an application I had in mind was Lyris ListManager. It does
everything I mentioned and I have been using it for quite a while. However,
I don't think they use the built-in servers in IIS but they have created
their own server(s) for the kind of intergrated application that I would
like to develop.
Thanks,
J.S.

In VS2003 I used to be able to drag a SQL Server table from Server Explorer
onto my webservice (in design mode) and it would automatically create a
DataAdapter for me. This doesn't work in VS2005 anymore (crap) - is this by
design? Does anyone know?
Now if you create a DataAdapter in VS2005 (on a webservice project) it
generates the SQL statements and puts them in a .RESX file (i.e. the UPDATE
and INSERT SQL command text). Then the...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
