Hello, I am trying to find a way to create a scheduled task or service that will copy my local profile folders under "Documents and settings" to a network drive. This would allow me to restore my settings if my profile became tampered with or corrupt. Is there any sample code available out there? -Robert

Hi This has been tickling my mind for quite some time. Can someone tell me if Access 2003 has a solution for it. After a period of development, your front end will definitely bloat despite all the compacting and decompiling you do. The best solution so far I have found is to create a fresh new mdb file and import all table (links), queries, forms, reports, menu, macros and modules. That is great: file size shrinks and it runs faster...

Hi I have a DataTable with thousands of rows. I want a quick way to insert the rows into a table in an Access database with the same structure. I have been using an update command but found it to be very slow i.e. there are about 100,000 rows of data. Can anybody suggest a quick way to do it? Geoff

How do I program vb.net to copy a query or table from one MS Access database to another? I'd like to accomplish what import does when it copies Access objects (primarily queries but some tables) from another database into the database where the import action is selected---EXCEPT that I'd like to do this externally with a VB.net program. -- Thanks, Bob

I need an automated procedure to copy data from an Access table to a SQL Server table. Speed is important. What is the recommended technique? I can export the data from Access, copy it via FTP, then import it into SQL Server. I've tried that, and the speed is acceptable. It is an ugly solution, however, and I expect to find a better one -- preferably a solution better integrated with the Access RDBMS. I've tried using an ODBC...

Hi all, I have a situation where I have a split database. At the back end, I need to - create a new table (I will call it newTable) with the exact fields, and relationships as another table (let's call it oldTable, and I need to copy everything EXCEPT the data). - Then I need to delete oldTable, and rename newTable 'oldTable'

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
