Add Code and decode to listbox

Newbie alert!
I have a webform listbox with what I am sure is a common requirement. I wish
to store a list of values but display a "translatio n" or decode. An example
would be 1, 2, 3, 4 and One, Two, Three, Four

I created

class ListBoxSpecial
public string Code;
public string Decode;

public override string ToString()
return Decode;

public ListBoxSpecial (string Code, string Decode)
this.Code = Code;
this.Decode = Decode;

I then populate the listbox, ListBox1 on page load. E.g. I loop round doing

ListBox1.Items. Add(new ListBoxSpecial( myCode, MyDecode)

I was hoping the ListBox would display

but when selected I could return "2" or whatever code/decode was
appropriate. However when I try this I get the error
The best overloaded method match for
'System.Web.UI. WebControls.Lis tItemCollection .Add(string)' has some invalid
Argument '1': cannot convert from 'myproj.WebForm 1.ListBoxSpecia l' to

Any help would be gratefully received.

Wondering if anyone can help me... I have a text node that has been HTML encoded. The text is has CDATA tags around it. The problem is I can't seem to decode the text. When the CDATA is gone, I can decode it fine. When it's not HTML encoded, then obviously I won't have to decode it. But when it's encoded and has CDATA tags I can't seem to do anything with it! I can't change the XML so can anyone think of a way I can work with this text...

I have some unicode string with some characters encode using python notation like '\n' for LF. I need to convert that to the actual LF character. I add several JavaScript events (onchange, onkeypress, etc.) to Controls using the Add method of the Attributes collection. However, if the JavaScript code contains certain characters, such as & or < or several others, it converts them to html, such as & or < which can sometimes cause my scripts not to work. How can I prevent ASP.NET from doing this? Thanks. -- Nathan Sokalski njsokalski@hotmail.com http://www.nathansokalski.com/

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
