I figured out what was causing the "Access is Denied" error when
calling functions from referenced DLLs in my service. I've tried to
be very detailed, so bear with me.
It turns out that libraries I made myself were not having this
problem, but it only happened with a zip library I downloaded and
copied into my program's directory. When using classes from this
library, my service threw an "Access Is Denied" FileLoadException,
which...

I've created a custom DLL that accepts an XML string, then invokes a proxy
DLL (which invokes Host Integration Services.) I can use the custom DLL in
a C# windows application and it works fine. However, if I use the DLL in a
Web Service, I get the error below. Why does the web service choke but the
windows app runs fine? Is the web service unable to serialize the argument?
The argument is a structure and the IDL shows the fields being...

Hi there,
Hoping someone might have an idea of whats going on here, I presume I'm in the right forum but not 100%.
I have a java web service that I am using with a C# .NET client. Synchronously everything works fine, but Asynchronously I'm having problems.
Intermittently I am getting the following error message in the asynchronous event handler for the call:
"Unable to write data to the transport connection: An established...

Hi Ng!
My application (version 1 a1) communicates with a service (version 1
s1). Now I would like to update the service and create a service
version 2 (s2). The new function calls within s2 are implemented in a
new interface, which derive from the old one to ensure that an old
version of my application (a1) still works with s2.
If i run my new version of the application a2 with s1 I get a
InvalidCastException (Return argument has an...

Hello,
What is the best way to stop a remoting server (Singleton SAO) that has been
started with RemotingConfiguration.Configure().
For sure, I want to do this without quitting the application :-)
In fact, at a given time based on an internal event, I would like to stop
the remoting functionality within my process.
Many thanks,

Hello.
Hi.
I'm writing a logging service that uses .NET remoting. The idea is that the service publishes an EventProcessor object that clients can access via .NET Remoting, passing it DiagnosticEvent objects for processing.
I've altered the main program for the service slightly so that I can run it more easily as a "regular" application during debugging. I have an assembly that contains the "diagnostics" classes that do the work, the...

Hi
I have a problem with the .Net-Securty-Functions.
I've got a client and a server.
When I try to register a channel at the server with this line:
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(chan, false);
I get the following error - doesn't matter if I try it local from my machine
or from a remote machine.
(After the Errormessage is more text ;))

Hi
I'm busy developing a .NET remoting application. Tcp remoting with a binary formatter is used. The user can specify on the client configuration whether to connect to the hosted Singleton or SingleCall objects. The application consists out of the following:
- Shared assembly
This contains serializable classes that are shared between the server and client applications. This also includes interfaces for the server classes.
-...

Hi
I have a strange problem. Here is some input data before I describe
the problem.
1. RemoteClass (Mathematica) is compiled into dll and put to GAC
2. Server remoting configuration is done by code.
//used in case of code configuration
TcpChannel channel = new TcpChannel(5000);

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
