Problem with .NET Remoting: Method not allowed

Hi,
I am using web application hosted on IIS as a server and a web
application as a client.I have configured remoting through web.config file
for both client and server.I called RemotingConfigu ration.Configur e() in the
Application_sta rt event of client.

Configuration section for server:

<system.runtime .remoting>
<application >
<service>
<wellknown mode="Singleton " type="abcd.efgh ,efgh"
displayName="Re motingService" objectUri="efgh .soap" />
</service>
<channels>
<channel
ref="http" useDefaultCrede ntials="true"
/>
<serverProvider s>
<formatter ref="soap" typeFilterLevel ="Full"/>
</serverProviders >
</channels>
</application>
</system.runtime. remoting>

Configuration section for Cilent:

<system.runtime .remoting>
<customErrors mode="On"/>
<application name="PinesClie nt">
<client>
<wellknown type="abcd.efgh ,efgh"
url="http://hostname/RemotingService "/>
</client>
<channels>
<channel ref="http" useDefaultCrede ntials="true" />
<clientProvider s>
<formatter ref="soap" typeFilterLevel ="Full"/>
</clientProviders >
</channels>
</application>
</system.runtime. remoting>

I am getting Error 405:Method not allowed ,
when I am trying to call method on remote object.

I am using Forms authentication in Server application and Windows
Authentication in client application.Is it a problem?

Please do tell me if any one knows how to resolve this.

Thanks in advance,
Kalyani

Hello, We have an application which communicates using remoting. There is a server which is a Windows Service. The server exposes an object which is a singleton. The client is a Web Application which makes calls to the service. We are using tcp channel which is using binaryformatter by default. The problem is that after a certain number of remoting calls the calls dont get through to the server. The client application makes the call and...

Could someone clear this up for me a bit. I am a little bit uncertain about this but this is my understanding. Please correct where wrong or bits missing. There are two types of remoting :- Marshal-by-reference Server Activated objects (SAO). Object instanciated on the server. Default constructor. Creation delayed till first method call. Lifetime controlled by server

I'm having a problem with a pair of applications I'm developing. I have a server application which interacts with several instruments, and a client app which connects to the server and provides a UI for interacting with the instruments. Readings from the instruments are periodically sent to the clients, and clients will send commands to the server based on user input. In normal usage there will be around 6 clients connected, with a...

I have written a windows service and want to expose a web based user interface for this service. I then wrote a class library containing a ..net remoting server. The class library have a method named StartRemotingServer(). To be able to call this method from the windows service I need to reference the remoting class library, but for the class library to be able to access the internal structures of the windows service the class library...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
