Are OleDBCommands thread safe when writing in different tables inside one MDB???

I have moved a heavy calculation inside my application to multiple threads.
Previously I was saving the results to a file and after finishing I
collected them all in one mdb file. Unfortunately this approach is too slow
so I decided to save all in one mdb file; now each thread is writing into
its own temporary table inside the MDB to avoid thread collisions and
locking.
But, is this approach thread safe? Currently I am only guessing, but it
would be very bad to loose results....
Or do you have any advises???

This is what is happening:

1. MainAppliciatio n -> holds "main.mdb" file, containing main table
"Results" that contains all results. Btw I'm using the Jet driver to access
the database

2. Writing results into seperate temp table - is this thread safe??? They
both use the same mdb, are there concurrency issues?
Thread1 -> Holding its own connection to main.db -> writing to table temp_t1
in main.mdb
Thread2 -> Holding its own connection to main.db -> writing to table temp_t2
in main.mdb

3. Threads are paused and finsihed. Then the results are sequentially moved
to the "Results" table. Therefore threading collisions can not happen.

temp_t1 -> move to "Results"
temp_t2 -> move to "Results"

Thx in advance
Dante

These questions apply to std vector, map, and cout: I am uncertain of the thread safety for reading/writing for std templates. I know if all threads are reading concurrently, it is thread safe. However, I have this situation: Case 1: map thread 1 ---------

Hi, The documentation states that enumeration through a collection is inherently NOT thread-safe, since a thread which added/removed an item from said collection could screw up the thread that was iterating. That makes sense.. but... given a collection that is filled at start-time and never modified again, is it safe to have multiple threads *reading* (not writing to) the collection using foreach()? I have a class that exposes an...

Hello, I am writing a program in Visual C# and I have encountered a problem. In my program I want to dynamically create a multitude of controls (thousands) on a form. The problem is that calling the Controls.Add() method several times or even calling the Controls.AddRange() method once can take a huge amount of time. Therefore, I would like to be able to run the loop that creates the controls on a different thread and meanwhile give the user...

My application uses a singleton static class for writing entries to a log file. The location and name of the log-file is read from web.config each time an entry is written, but has the current date inserted into its name. For example, the string: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\myapp\log.txt will be changed to: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\myapp\log_20060216.txt

I have a class that instantiates two Timer objects that fire at different intervals. My class can be instantiated within a Windows Form or from a Windows Service. Actions performed by one of the event handlers may take longer than the interval for either of the timers, so it's possible for multiple events to fire "simultaneously" and for events to queue up. I'm attempting to get the timers to sync on some reference type object, or use...

Hi group, I am relatively new to C# (although I have a lot of programming excperience in other languages like Java and C). Currently I am searching for a solution to this problem: Suppose you have 3 methods A, B and C. All of them shall be run threaded (I/O tasks) and one after another. I can create a thread and schedule one method just like:

Don't see any official notice that compiled library dll's loaded in the BIN directory of an asp.net website need to be thread safe, but concurrent visits to the same web site sure bear this out. Does anyone know the answer to this?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
