Design guidelines for class library developers

I have found the following URL very useful:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...guidelines.asp

However, I would find it very useful to have a version of this information
in Word format so I can print it out. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thanks!

I don't know if there is one, but you could contact Brad Adams through his
blog and ask.

C++ Programming Style Guidelines http://geosoft.no/development/cppstyle.html I think that these guidelines are almost *all* wrong. For example: 11. Private class variables should have underscore suffix. class SomeClass { private:

Hi! Does anyone know if there is a downloadable and printable version of the "Design Guidelines for Class Library Developer" on MSDN? Having a printed version for reference and reading seems to me a _much_ more efficient way of having the document than the current click-o-mania on the MSDN site. /Patrik

I'm not an OOP guru, but I would say ". . .not necessarily" What if the base class and derived classes are internal? Then the base class has to be within the same assembly to be inherited from. You may want to create several classes that are used throughout the assembly, but are not accessible outside the assembly. . . If your base class will be inherited across multiple assemblies and future applications, then I would then

http://tinyurl.com/2vnd This is a very painful section to navigate as every atomic bit of information gets its very own page. Is this information available anywhere in a more printer-friendly version? Or even better, in a book? Michael Roper

Many (if not most) have said that code-behind is best if working in teams - which does seem logical. How do you deal with the flow of the work? I have someone who is good at designing, but know nothing about ASP. He can build the design of the pages in HTML with tables, labels, textboxes etc. But then I would need to change them to ASP.net objects and write the code to make the page work (normally I do this as I go - can't do this...

Hi all, Can anyone recommend any books for User Interface Engineer for Windows Forms application? At the company I work at, we've gone GUI component happy. Basically GUI tools (i.e. Infragistics) are placed into the product for the sake of a pretty GUI. In the end, I find the application harder to use than without them!

I have been reading "Design Guidelines for Developing Class Libraries" at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229042.aspx. Is it correct that they are recommending camelCase for private member variables? Doesn't this create problems for case-insensitive languages when we create a private member variable along with properties? For example Private thisIsAVariable As Int32

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
