I found some code Dev Ashish posted nearly a decade ago in response to someone's inquiry describing their need to dial a number, monitor call progress and determine whether it was busy. This was back when A2.0 was more widely used, so the code is Access Basic. Autodialer is not the answer, as it requires users to take handsets off-hook manually. I find myself in need of more direct control of a voice/data/fax modem from an A97 program....

Hi All, I'm trying to connect to a virtual port (COM19, OUTGOING, "Bluetooth Serial Port") using VS2005 System.IO.Ports. When I ran the ff code below here's what happens. 1) VS2005 Compiles w/o errors 2) My Nokia 6600 prompted me the message "Accept Connection request from DEMON?" note: DEMON is my computers name. 3) Using my Nokia 6600, I hit the button that refers to the "Yes"

Hi All, I am writing a polling controller for an RS-485 line that has several addressable devices connected. It is a small access control system. All is well- the code runs for anything from three hours to three days, then sometimes when I get a comms error and have to send out a nak character, it fails hard... The traceback below pops up. - the first lines are just some debug prints.

Hi all, I am fairly new to python, but not programming and embedded. I am having an issue which I believe is related to the hardware, triggered by the software read I am doing in pySerial. I am sending a short message to a group of embedded boxes daisy chained via the serial port. When I send a 'global' message, all the connected units should reply with their Id and Ack in this format '0 Ack' To be certain that I didn't miss a...

This code below write a serial command to the com port then read the results and disaplays it into the label1.text property when button1_click event is triggered. I think what is going on is that the ocp.read is on a timer and reads char by char. How can i change this code so that the read reads the whole result and not char by char? I have data coming into a serial port that I need to take action on. I have created a delegate to read the data from the port and put it into a text box. Once the data is read, I need to manipulate it. However, when I try to take any action on the data, I get errors. When I call the function GetTareandWeight, it gives me an error on the split function because the data is not done streaming in yet. How can I wait for all the data to get...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
