Hi,
I'm looking for some ideas on how to build a very simple Event processing
framework in my C++ app. Here is a quick background ...
I'm building a multithreaded app in C++ (on Linux) that
uses message queues to pass pointers to Events between threads. In my app
there are simple events that can be defined using an enum (for example an...

Hi
From what I have understood from various posts in this newsgroup, writing event
loops pretty much comes down to this:
while (true) {
handleEvents();
sleep(1); // or _sleep() or nanosleep(), depending on platform
}

Hello,
what is the difference between "event" and the only use of delegate? Why
one should note events with "event" keyword when the functionality seems the
same as with pure delegates?
When I call some delegate, in which thread this delegate gets called -
callers = synchronous, or some other thread = asynchronous? And in what
thread is...

hey guys.
overview
---------
I'm designing a messaging system that works on the principle of late binding
to the I/O objects, depending on the .Net class libraries present in the
local folder.
I may have an output File.DLL, and ODBC.DLL, that instantiate an abstract
parent to stream data i receive... an input .DLL allows data to be...

I've created a pocketpc app which has a startup form containing a listview.
The form creates an object which in turn creates a System.Threading.Timer.
It keeps track of the Timer state using a TimerState object similar to the
example in the System.Threading.Timer documentation. The method which
handles the timer events, among other things,...

Using VS 2003, VB, MSDE...
There are two threads, A & B, that continously run and are started by Sub
Main. They instantiationsl of identical code. Thread A handles call
activity on telephone line 1 and Thread B handles call activity on telephone
line 2. They use a common SQL datasource, but all DataSets are unique to
each thread.
Is...

My unstanding of all VB up to and including vb6 is that an event could
not "interrupt" itself.
For instance if you had a timer event containing a msgbox then you would
only get one message.
However in vb.net you get continual messages (even setting the system
modal property).
Firstly, are these two assumptions right and if so what is...

Hi,
I have a user control that in turn creates a bunch of webcontrols
dynamically and handles the events these webcontrols raise. It used to work
fine on ASP .Net 1.1 but when compiled on 2.0 it does not. The problem is
that the webcontrols get created on the OnLoad event of the usercontrol and
the event handlers are assigned at the same...

Hi,
I have an app with the main thread and one additional thread.
In the main thread I defined an event handler MyHandler, the function for
raisin this event OnMyEvent and the function for processing this event MyFunc.
I want to raise this event from the second thread. Is it thread safe to call
the method OnMyEvent from this second...

Hello. First post, but been doing a bit of reading here. I am working on a
project in Java, but decided to switch over to C# after seeing some of the
additional features I can get from C#. One of the big changes I want to make
is event-driven code (rather than the linear flow I had in Java). I have
spent a week or so searching Google, talking...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
