Possible error in Print Engine

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can either help me with this issue or recommend a
third party company to aid in its resolution.

Environment:
VS 2003,
W2K3
Crystal Report 9.0
SQL 2000
We have built a web service that provides reports to users via the web
(intranet). Users log on to the system, they can upload report
templates and then produce reports from these templates. The web
solution allows the user to apply filters against fields in the report
by examining the report and extracting the tables and fields used.
User can then set values against these fields to apply filtering.

When we run a report (doesn't matter about the complexity of the
report) it fails randomly with the following error

Print engine not opened.
at .F(String  , EngineException ErrorID
)
at .A(Int16 , Int32 )
at CrystalDecision s.CrystalReport s.Engine.Databa seFieldDefiniti on.getName()
at CrystalDecision s.CrystalReport s.Engine.FieldD efinition.get_N ame()
at AMMSReportWebSe rvice.ReportSer vice.GetReportF ields(String
reportFile)

We can run the report twice and have it fail once and success once. I
have updated the crystal merge files and reviewed all the articles i
have found on crystal but have not been able to resolve this problem.

Thanks,

Gary

I posted a question before (to too many groups) and this time I am sending to this group only. I have a quick script as seen below, the file_list table has a unique field called file_name. The problem I am having is that if no unique items exist, this will insert into the table fine. But if a unique item does exist it will not insert as it should. My problem is that I can not get access to return any kind of error. This is very...

I am receiving an error while trying to use Crystal Reports with .NET, which I have pasted below. The main problem is this message: File or assembly name CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, or one of its dependencies, was not found. I have checked the winnt/assembly directory and the assembly is there. I have two versions of the file - 9.1.5000.0 and 9.1.3300.0. I have tried both with no luck. Is there another assembly that...

Using A2003. I'm receiving this error when returning from a "DoCmd.OpenReport..." statement. I have a tab control with a subform on every tab. The user selects an item from a combobox at the top of the main form which refreshes all the subforms. If this DoCmd statement is not executed, then I don't receive the error. I tried a "DoCmd.OpenQuery..." instead of a report but get the same error. I want the user to be able to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
