I understand a compilation error occurs when a method that throws no
exceptions
is the only code in a try block. What I don't understnad is why I can
specify
the catching of an Exception for a method that throws no exceptions,
but I
cannot catch an IOException for a method that throws no exceptions?
// This try/catch code complies fine, even though foo2 throws no
exceptions:

I am handling exceptions currently using try, except. Generally I don't
handle specific exceptions and am catching all.
Then if an exception occurs, I would like to capture that error string.
However, in the documentation it seems like
there is not a way to get the extra str data if you are handling all
exceptions and not specifically. Is there?
thanks

Using VB.NET I want to read in an XML file that has an array of objects and
then step through the resulting array in code. I build a class to define the
structure and I am running code to read in the data but I can't figure out
where the data is in the resulting array. Most of the relevant code is
below. When I run the code to desrialize I get no errors but if I try to
look at some of the data via the command window I get errors such as...

Hi,
It appears displaying a messagebox in a validating event will cancel the
subsequent event. In the program below, button 2's click event doesn't fire
if you open a dialog box in button 1's validating event. Am I doing
something wrong here?
Thanks

Hi all,
Imagine I have three functions a(x), b(x), c(x) that each return
something or raise an exception. Imagine I want to define a function
that returns a(x) if possible, otherwise b(x), otherwise c(x),
otherwise raise CantDoIt.
Here are three ways I can think of doing it:

Hi group :)
I have this standard line:
export = open(self.exportFileName , 'w')
'exportFileName' is a full path given by the user. If the user gives an
illegal path or filename the following exception is raised:
"IOError: No such file or directory: /some/path/file.txt"

I am unable to catch floating exceptions (e.g. divide by 0 or 0/0)
using the standard exceptions defined in stdexcept. What is the
recommended way to catch such exceptions?
Thanks,

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
